SUMMARY
More Education and Critical Thinking to Counter Digital Excesses
President Claudia Sheinbaum called for protecting children from social media and AI. Sixteen of the country’s 32 states already regulate cell phone use in schools. The focus is on education, not prohibition. What is needed is critical thinking, reading, social interaction, and regulation of platforms so that technology serves the people, not controls them.
Mexico’s Solidarity with the People of Colombia
In response to the earthquake in Colombia, Mexico remains vigilant through diplomatic channels and reiterated its willingness to provide support. “All the support needed, if necessary, (will be provided) for the people of Colombia—we will be there,” the President announced.
A National Campaign to Plant the Future
Sheinbaum thanked state governors, the Armed Forces, Civil Protection agencies, firefighters, those involved in reforesting, and citizens for participating in National Reforestation Day, held this Sunday throughout the country.
Our History Is Told Through the Peoples
The President called for renaming Paso de Cortés to Paso de los Pueblos Indígenas. “This has to do with whom we honor and whom we do not,” Sheinbaum explained. She called for a historical narrative that stops glorifying the conquistadors and recognizes the dignity and greatness of Indigenous peoples.
Dialogue and security to protect Mexico’s rural areas
It was reported that 45 avocado packing plants have already resumed operations following the suspension of activities announced by the United States in Michoacán. More than 60 packing plants are still awaiting the resumption of operations.
*Water for the Eastern Part of the Valley of Mexico and Key Solutions
The President announced a comprehensive project for the eastern part of the Valley of Mexico. Measures include replacing wells that cause ground subsidence and bringing water from Cuautitlán Izcalli to Iztapalapa. Funding for Line A of the Mexico City metro and the Lechería-Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) train line are also being reviewed.
Mexico flies its flag high
Sheinbaum congratulated Mexican athletes for their participation in the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. “They flew the national flag high,” she declared. The results will be presented, and support for Mexican sports will continue to be strengthened.
