SUMMARY – MORNING PRESIDENTIAL PRESS CONFERENCE – WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador hailed the approval of the Judicial Reform by the full session of the Senate. “It is extremely important to put an end to corruption and impunity. Much progress will be made when it is the people who elect the judges, justices, and magistrates,” he stressed.

The President made it clear that there were no negotiations for PAN senator Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez to vote in favor of the reform. “Some people think that there were negotiations because that is one of the problems of conservatives; they believe that we’re just like they are […] This (sort of thing) is not done by any member of Morena, it was done when Salinas was president,” he said.

Following the debate between the US presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the President acknowledged that both treated Mexico with respect in their interventions.

While participating in the presidential press conference, Dr. Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller explained that during her husband’s term in office she has contributed to the recovery of Mexico’s historical heritage. She emphasized that President López Obrador’s legacy is formidable because of his moral courage and the values he leaves behind. “He has given us back our power. Power lies in the people, the Constitution says, and I believe he has codified this,” she said. “You could not lead a transformation movement without the support of a compañera,” the president told his wife.

In the Who’s Who in Lies segment, it was reported that:
