SUMMARY

Mexico Embraces You: Returning with Dignity
271,000 Mexican nationals returned to the country and received more than 1.5 million services. These include food, health care, transportation, and social well-being program benefits. President Claudia Sheinbaum noted that Mexico welcomes them “with dignity, with respect, and with open arms.”

Sovereignty: A Question of Defending the Homeland
Regarding the U.S. government’s decision to revoke visas for politically engaged individuals, the President pointed to a possible political and interventionist motive. Sheinbaum recalled that presidents Fox and Calderón opened the doors to U.S. government agencies. “In Mexico, the Mexican people decide,” she explained.

Mexico does not bow down to anyone
Sheinbaum defended a relationship with the United States free from subordination and questioned those who seek foreign backing. “Why should we lower our heads? Why should we bow down?,” she asked. The President affirmed the country’s history of sovereignty, noting that “we are heirs to the best of Mexico.”

More Democracy, No Censorship
Sheinbaum defended codes of ethics, audience ombudsmen, and complaint mechanisms proposed for the media. “What does that have to do with censorship? Nothing,” she noted. The President contrasted these measures with the pressure exerted on the media during the Fox and Calderón administrations and called for transparency regarding manipulation in social media.
