Speaking from Zacatecas, President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted progress in security and well-being in rural areas: “I want to congratulate the governor’s team for its work on security,” she said. The Fourth Transformation (4T) strengthens peace, production, and well-being at the local level.
Coordination, Intelligence, and Dignity to Build Peace
In Zacatecas, intentional homicides declined by 85% between September 2024 and August 2026, and by 96% compared to 2021. In addition, the monthly salary for police officers has risen from 3,500 to 18,000 pesos (US$206 to US$1,064) since 2021. The President emphasized that “when there is coordination, commitment, determination, and follow-up from the governor, the situation changes significantly.”
Toward the Transformation of the Mexican Countryside
The Well-Being Programs reach 13 million producers, involving 107 billion pesos (US$6.33 billion) in funding. Mexico has more than 27,000 Well-Being Stores—the largest supply network in Latin America—and is self-sufficient in white corn.
More Investment and Domestic Production Strengthen Mexico
Investment grew 7.7% year-over-year in June. In addition, record exports to the United States have been recorded, driven by electronic components. Sheinbaum emphasized that, despite negative forecasts, “the movement we come from is doing very well.”
Water for the People and Agricultural Sovereignty
Sheinbaum declared that water for Zacatecas will be guaranteed. Dialogue is ongoing to build the Milpillas Dam, and if no agreement is reached, alternatives will be sought. Furthermore, support programs, guaranteed prices, and improvements to bean seeds will continue.
