THE PEOPLE’S MAÑANERA — MORNING PRESIDENTIAL PRESS CONFERENCE — MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2026

SUMMARY

Housing for Those Who Have Never Been Able to Afford It
Housing policy transforms lives: 5.17 million homeowners are no longer burdened with unpayable loans; 52% of the new homes are for women, and 88% are for those earning up to 1.5 times the minimum wage. “It’s about accessing a right,” President Claudia Sheinbaum explained.

Decent Housing and Secure Property
The goal is to issue at least one million property deeds, providing certainty to families who have gone without them for up to 30 years. In addition, Constitutional Article 4 recognizes adequate housing as a right. The Infonavit and Fovissste housing agencies have regained the authority to build housing for the people.

Sovereignty: Mexico Is No One’s Punching Bag
Sheinbaum noted that “the vast majority of Mexicans are against foreign intervention. We will always defend the principle of non-interference.” Indeed, polls show that 91% of Mexicans oppose foreign intervention.
