Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: it was reported that tax revenue at December 23, 2024 had increased 5.0% increase with respect to 2023. President Claudia Sheinbaum attributed the increase to better management of the Tax Administration System (SAT), avoiding privileges and strengthening the institution. In 2025, a 5% increase in tax revenue is expected, without creating new taxes or raising existing ones; in January, Sheinbaum will meet with National Electoral Institute (INE) President Guadalupe Taddei, to discuss its budget and publicly reveal how its funds will be used; the new health and education programs, the Door-to-Door Health-Care program and the Rita Cetina universal scholarship, will begin in February 2025.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: Claudia Sheinbaum announced that today she will visit Chihuahua to deliver a decree recognizing traditional communal land ownership for the Rarámuri indigenous communities; reports were presented on the current state of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport and its increasingly favorable passenger and financial numbers; the National Institute of Anthropology and History reported that through the program My Homeland is Not for Sale, 14,000 archeological and historical artefacts have been recovered. Italy, the United States, and Peru are actively participating in the repatriation of these cultural assets.
