Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: the Mexican government, in coordination with state governments and the National Electoral Institute is working to guarantee that the people will express themselves freely and vote without any fear or pressure on June 2. “These will be the cleanest, freest elections in the history of Mexico,” President López Obrador declared; Deputy Minister of Public Security Luis Rodríguez Bucio denounced State of Mexico District Judge Marco Antonio Beltrán for calling for U.S. intervention in Mexico’s elections. The judge uploaded a video in his social networks in which he claimed that democracy in Mexico was in danger, for which he asked for messages of support, encouragement, and solidarity to empower judicial independence; the Program for the Regularization of Vehicles of Foreign Origin has regularized the status of almost 2.29 million vehicles, with the US$342 million collected in the corresponding fees earmarked for improving roads and highways.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: With national elections a week away, AMLO called on citizens to denounce vote buying and electoral fraud. “We must not sell dignity, we must not sell the future of the new generations,” he stressed; the President expressed his confidence that the transformation will continue in order to keep cleansing the country of corruption; President López Obrador reiterated that there is political stability in Mexico. He indicated that the dirty campaign that has been promoted to raise the specter of violence in the country, in the context of the elections, has had no impact; in the context of the upcoming elections in Spain, the President wished the progressive forces well.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO said that at the end of his term of office he will be proud to say that his government did not repress anyone, did not order the disappearance of anyone, did not torture anyone, did not massacre anyone, and did not silence anyone; the President denounced intellectuals aligned with the opposition who seek to recover the economic benefits granted to them by the previous neoliberal governments. He recalled a saying about such individuals: “There is only one feeling greater than the love of privileges: the hatred of those who take them away.”; AMLO recommended that whoever replaces him in office should protect the country’s natural resources. He called on his successor to not to leave water management to market forces; to not grant concessions for open-pit mining, and to develop an urban development plan in each municipality avoiding the construction of buildings where there are no public services.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO sent his condolences to the families of the nine people who were killed yesterday, during an accident that occurred during a Citizens’ Movement election campaign rally held in Nuevo León; Following the International Court of Justice decision that it will not take precautionary measures against Ecuador for its raid on the Mexican Embassy in Quito, President López Obrador said that the case is still not over and that it is important to set a precedent so that international law is never again violated and an embassy invaded; the President denounced the intellectuals who are supporting the opposition presidential candidate, saying they seek a return to the era of “perks” for the cultural community received from the neoliberal governments; AMLO reiterated the need for a Judicial Branch Reform in order to move forward with the transformation of the country.

According to the latest opinion poll conducted by De las Heras Demotecnia, AMLO has a nationwide approval rating of 75%; President López Obrador continues to travel around the country to meet with governors and those responsible for public health policies, in order to guarantee that in September there will be a first level Public Health-Care System in place; it is not true that the Mexican government wants to eliminate private property and expropriate family homes and Morena does not seek to amend any article of the Constitution for such purposes; the Mexican Employers Confederation was denounced for promoting slander campaigns against the President and his administration since August 2022.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO expressed his confidence that the entire population will participate in the June 2 elections and that together the people will guarantee clean and free elections. “Let threats, vote buying, and electoral fraud be confined to the dustbin of history,” he said; the Mexican government has recovered 90 hospitals that were in disrepair, closed, or lacking equipment. Most of them have been recovered through the IMSS Bienestar program; the President reported that despite the high temperatures that have been registered in the past few days, the Federal Electricity Commission has maintained the supply without complications.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO reiterated that Mexico is one of the most politicized countries in the world, with a conscious population. He said that the media’s attempts at manipulating public opinion “don’t make a dent.” The head of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Manuel Bartlett, indicated that the National Electric System has never been at risk, had never stopped functioning and that there is no deficit in the production of electric energy. The Mexican Government has invested almost US$20 billion dollars in electric power generation and transmission projects to strengthen the CFE.; the atypical demand for electricity between May 7 and 9, due to the heat wave, caused the rotating interruption of electricity supply to at most 5% of the population; National Energy Control Center (Cenace) Director Ricardo Octavio Mota explained that the Cenace is responsible for guaranteeing the supply of electric power. Therefore, when there is an atypical demand for energy, consumption is restricted in an orderly and controlled manner to avoid a major problem in the entire National System.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: the latest Buendía & Márquez poll indicates that President López Obrador's approval rating is 70 percent nationwide; AMLO reported that the elimination of pre-trial detention that enabled eight military officers implicated in the case of the disappeared Ayotzinapa students to continue their trial in freedom will be challenged. He characterized the attack on the National Palace led yesterday by professors and teacher training college students, in which 26 police officers were injured, as a provocation designed to force his government to repress the aggressors on the eve of elections. The policy being followed is not to succumb to any provocation; in April 2024 federal crimes had decreased 23.1% compared to the beginning of the present administration. Intentional homicides fell 20% in the same period; between December 1, 2018 and April 30, 2023, hydrocarbon theft has decreased 94.2%, which means a savings of over US$19.44 billion. These resources have been allocated to well-being programs and public work projects that strengthen economic development.
