Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: Minister of Finance Rogelio Ramírez de la O explained that the Federal Expenditure Budget has Mexican humanism as its principles, that is, the consolidation of development with shared benefits. A balance between income and spending is sought, thus achieving a reduction in the budget deficit from 5.9% of GDP to 3.9%; Programmable spending is US$320 billion, earmarked for health-care, social programs, investment projects, education, public security, and agricultural support; President Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that the USMCA is very beneficial for the three countries, as it allows them to complement their economies, foster growth, development, and well-being; Sheinbaum reported that Interior Minister Rosa Icela Rodríguez will meet with Guadalupe Taddei, president of the National Electoral Institute to discuss the considerations that would justify postponing the Judicial Branch election.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: Judicial Reform moves forward: key bills sent to Congress and election of judges being organized; Green proposals, allocating 1% of military spending for development, and strengthening of the USMCA highlighted in Mexico's G20 participation. President Claudia Sheinbaum met with, among others, her U.S., Canadian, and Chinese counterparts; the government is ensuring the continuity of well-being programs with close to US$62.15 billion allocated, in addition to increases in budgetary outlays in education, housing, and health-care. US$48.84 billion were allocated for infrastructure projects, while the public debt in relation to GDP remains stable. There will be no salary increases for high-level officials, and economic growth is projected at 2.3%, with an overall deficit of 3.9%.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: The constitutional reform on gender equality, unanimously approved on October 24, was presented at today’s press conference. The reform modifies seven key constitutional articles to guarantee equal opportunities, a life free of violence, gender parity in public office, elimination of the wage gap, and greater federal protection against gender violence; the 2025 Economic Package was presented. It reduces the deficit and maintains Republican Austerity, guaranteeing social programs and public investments without affecting the government's operation; at the G20 summit, Claudia Sheinbaum will propose allocating military resources to global peace, environment, and poverty reduction programs. She will highlight the implementation of the Sembrando Vida agricultural support program as a globally applicable model; the President indicated that in 2025 there will be a budget increase in line with inflation for autonomous educational institutions. In addition, funds will be allocated to create the Rosario Castellanos National University and strengthen the Benito Juarez and Health universities.

He also explained the Simplification and Digitalization Law, which among other objectives, seeks to reduce paperwork procedures, requirements, and response times, standardize processes and requirements, and promote digitalization; President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the renewal of the Package against Inflation and the High Cost of Living, which will reduce the price of 24 products of the basic food basket from US$91.17 to US$79.85; the President pointed out that US Ambassador Ken Salazar “has a different opinion from one day to the next” concerning the “Hugs, not bullets” strategy to fight crime. Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: New legal regime, Oil for Well-being, seeks to rescue and strengthen PEMEX; The director of the state-owned oil company Víctor Rodríguez said that Pemex will implement republican austerity plan, with the objective of achieving savings of US$4.37 billion, increasing productivity, and reducing the number of subsidiary companies; President Claudio Sheinbaum announced that her administration will promote electrification in indigenous communities in Durango, through conventional infrastructure or solar panels to ensure clean energy; the President announced that her government is evaluating whether to respond to threats from the United States to impose tariffs on Mexico products with its own import duties, but will prioritize a dialogue.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: the National Public Security System reported a decrease in the daily average of intentional homicides in 2024, registering a 18% decline in October compared to February 2019. High impact crimes and federal crimes decreased by 35.8% and 22.1%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019; Minister of Security Omar García Harfuch noted that in the first 39 days of the new administration, National Security Strategy action axis have been implemented, focused on strengthening investigation capacities and collaboration between federal and state authorities; Claudia Sheinbaum addressed Mexican migrants in the United States, assuring them that “we will always defend you.” Sheinbaum also stated that she will seek to meet with President-elect Donald Trump's transition cabinet and Mexican authorities to advance coordination between the two countries; the President indicated that she is working on a justice plan for the Mayo people of Sonora and Sinaloa. With the reform on the rights of indigenous and Afro-American peoples, it is expected that in 2025 these sectors will receive financial resources from a fund, to be distributed among the 13,000 communities registered with the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples.
