SUMMARY
Support from AMLO and Unity of the Transformation
Claudia Sheinbaum thanked former President López Obrador for his support and noted that opponents are seeking to construct a narrative to discredit the movement, AMLO, and his government. “I am enormously grateful for the support”, she said, noting that “our opponents would like to see a split in our movement.”
The President emphasized that the current attacks aim to delegitimize a project that enjoys broad popular support. Sheinbaum rejected narratives that seek to undermine her leadership, describing them as deeply misogynistic positions.
National Sovereignty: In Mexico, the People Decide
President Sheinbaum said that there is a political and media offensive driven by the U.S. far-right and the Mexican right to construct a narrative against the Fourth Transformation ahead of the U.S. elections and the 2027 elections in Mexico. She reiterated that “it is the people who put officials in power and remove them in Mexico” and maintained that any investigation into allegations of corruption or ties with organized crime must be conducted with evidence and in accordance with Mexican law.
Sheinbaum also reiterated that bilateral relations with the United States will continue to be based on cooperation and mutual respect, always within the framework of national sovereignty.
2026 World Cup: A Legacy for the People
Sheinbaum emphasized that the 2026 World Cup will leave a legacy through the Social World Cup, with more than 1,200 soccer fields built and renovated, and 4,300 young soccer players being supported. “This isn’t just for the World Cup year; it’s a legacy” to be passed on, she explained.
As part of the preparations, 400 million pesos (US$23.11 million) are also being invested in archaeological sites, museums, and cultural spaces, in addition to the creation of the México Invita app, which will offer 290 tourist and cultural routes to showcase the country’s greatness to the world.
There will be no repression in the face of provocations
Regarding the protests by the National Teachers Coordinating Committee (CNTE), the President explained that there are groups seeking to provoke an authoritarian reaction from the State to benefit conservative sectors. “Extremes attract each other” and “there will be no repression,” she affirmed, reiterating that dialogue will be maintained and that any attempt to use force in response to social protest will be rejected.
