Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: A ceremony will be held formalizing the nationalization of the 13 electric power plants that the Mexican Government acquired from the Spanish company Iberdrola for close to U$6 billion; AMLO explained the aims and most important provisions of the constitutional reforms on austerity and salaries and the elimination of autonomous public sector agencies; according to the Morning Consult survey, AMLO’s approval ratings are at 77%, the second highest worldwide; the President will tour the county during March, May, and June to supervise the work projects underway and ensure that they are all completed during the current administration.

The President is calling on the Biden administration to weigh in on the issue; the President’s electoral reform proposal seeks to reduce government financing to political parties, reduce the percentage of voter turnout required for a referendum to be binding from 40% to 30% and eliminate proportional representation seats in Congress, among other measures; Mexico's GDP grew 3.2%.; according to a national survey, President López Obrador has an overall approval rating of 77%.
