Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO reiterated that the Federal Electricity Commission is working so that there is no interruption of electric power due to demand being greater than what is generated, as a result of high temperatures. Blackouts have occurred in some states; the President called on the entire population to report cases of corruption, whether large or small, to the authorities. In the fight against corruption, the Mexican government has saved between US$110 to US$220 billion; AMLO questioned María Amparo Casar being the president of Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity, largely viewed as an opposition front, even though she illegally collected a pension from Pemex, acquired through an act of corruption.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: According to an Enkoll opinion poll, AMLO enjoys a national average approval rating of 77%; the President explained that the blackouts that occurred yesterday in some regions of the country were partly due to the intense heat. The National Energy Control Center will continue monitoring the situation to ensure that the electricity supply does not falter. There is sufficient electric power generation capacity; AMLO reiterated that through a decree it was established that imported yellow corn cannot be employed for domestic use or consumption. In addition, the National Council of Science and Technology (Conahcyt) is investigating the possible negative health effects caused by transgenic corn.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: In the final stretch of his administration’s term in office, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that he is very pleased for having laid the foundations for country’s transformation. He noted that his administration has reduced poverty and inequality as never before, thanks to the Well-Being programs; the President reaffirmed that Mexico maintains its demand that Ecuador apologize for the invasion of the country’s embassy in Quito. In addition, Mexico filed a complaint before the International Court of Justice to not only sanction Ecuador, but also to establish a procedure to expel those nations that violate the sovereignty of others from the UN; The average salary of workers affiliated to the Mexican Social Security Institute is US$34.19) daily.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO noted that he is not facing accusations of corruption. "In my case they have never been able, nor will they be able, to prove a single case of corruption, not one," he said; The President said that without the support of the Armed Forces, he would not have been able to move forward, given the catastrophic reality that existed when he took office. He reiterated his support to the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and the Marines; the President described the report released by the opposition claiming that 300,000 Covid19 deaths could have been avoided in Mexico as a vile, made-to-order act of politicking. Mexico was one of the first countries in the world to begin mass vaccination campaigns and many deaths were avoided, since hospitals were converted to provide the necessary care to Covid19 patients.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference centered on the situation in Pemex. AMLO denounced the smear campaign against Pemex, driven by those who managed the country’s economic policy during the neoliberal period and dedicated themselves to plundering Mexico and the state-owned oil company; the Mexican government cleaned up "onerous contracts" in Pemex, with some contracts finalized and others renegotiated because they contained disadvantageous conditions for the company; Pemex indicators in the current presidential administration include: output has risen from 7 billion barrels per year in 2018 to 7.4 billion barrels in 2023, 51 new oil production fields were incorporated into the company’s operations, US$700 million has been invested in rehabilitating six refineries, Pemex's debt has been reduced by US$30 billion.

The latest poll by Covarrubias y Asociados for El Heraldo puts his approval at 70%, while the El Financiero survey clocks in at 60%; the President reported on the situation of the Mexico City International Airport, which was in disarray under the previous government. Major investments have been earmarked for improving the airport. The Integral Airport Security Strategy has been particularly successful; AMLO reiterated that one of the strategies to address the migratory phenomenon is to help people so that they do not abandon their places of origin. He indicated that the Mexican government has invested more than US$150 million in social programs for the countries with the highest migratory outflows and insisted on the call for the US to contribute US$20 billion annually to support poor countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

It will enable workers who retire to receive a higher pension than is currently or has historically been the case; Minister of Security and Citizen Protection Rosa Icela Rodríguez criticized Supervisory Judge Rogelio León Díaz Villarreal who issued a ruling to not arraign and to free Abraham N, alias Don Rodo, suspected member of the New General Jalisco Cartel. The judge accepted edited videos of the moment of Abraham N’s capture as valid, without taking into account the arguments of the computer expert or the evidence presented by the prosecution; coordinated efforts have achieved reductions in crimes since December 2018, such as robberies, which dropped 31.2%; vehicle theft, which fell 49.3%; femicides, which declined 29.7%, and homicides, which decreased 22%.
