It will involve a model similar to the School is Ours program, so that the local committees can decide how to invest the resources they will receive from the federal government to improve their health-care centers; the President granted an interview to the CBS program 60 Minutes, which will be broadcasted on Sunday, March 24 at 7:00 pm; during the current administration, over 25,000 Pemex workers have had their employment status formalized. An average of US$149 million per year have been invested in each of the country’s six refineries, just in maintenance and modernization of equipment alone.

In order to address any problems arising from this law, a legal support system has been set up in the 11 Mexican consulates in Texas; AMLO said he is awaiting the response of the parents of the missing Ayotzinapa students, to whom he proposed a meeting without their lawyers and advisors, to present them with a progress report on the investigation; due to the shortage of doctors and specialists that the country requires resulting from the previous neoliberal governments, during the current administration, the number of medical specialists has been doubled.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: With six months to go before leaving office, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has an approval rating of 73%, according to a survey published by the daily newspaper Reforma; AMLO reiterated that he will not leave work projects unfinished before ending his term in office; on March 21 the President will meet with the governors of the 23 states that have federalized their health services to evaluate the progress made in providing free medical care; Minister of Security and Citizen Protection Rosa Icela Rodríguez reported that federal crimes have decreased 26% compared to the beginning of the current administration. Intentional homicides are down 25%, with respect to the historical record of July 2018, and remain low. Fuel theft has fallen 94.3%, in relation to 2018, which represents an estimated savings of more than US$18.79 billion.

The official figure in the registry, as of March 15, was 114,815 persons. However, search efforts have resulted in the 15,158 of them being located; the Acapulco Reconstruction Plan has invested almost US$909.68 million in the reconstruction of 301,076 homes and 30,196 businesses. 100% of the city’s schools have now resumed activities; 69% of the hotel stock is once again available for visitors, and mobile and fixed communications are operating normally

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: The President insisted that there is nothing personal in collecting back taxes from large companies, but rather compliance with the task of defending the interests of the majority of the people; from 2019 to 2023 collection levels reached a record high, increasing from US$170 billion to US$260 billion; the Mexican Government decreed that the area occupied by the Tangolunda golf course in Oaxaca is a Protected Natural Area. It has been under concession to business magnate Ricardo Salinas Pliego. To avoid future appropriations of the disputed land, which is property of the Nation, the zone was declared a Protected Natural Area; the President expressed his support for Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado’s dismissal of the state ministers of the Interior and Security, following the killing of a young teacher training college student and he reiterated his backing of her request that the state congress dismiss the prosecutor.
