Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: Reports were presented on the current situation and future plans of the Infonavit state housing agency. Infonavit director Octavio Romero reported that currently 7.3 million of the agency’s beneficiaries have access to credit, but cannot find housing options in the market that are in line with their economic possibilities. The Infonavit reform, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, contemplates a socially oriented approach to housing based on three main elements: accessible and sufficient credits, housing construction, and a rental program with an option to purchase; Minister of Foreign Relations Juan Ramón de la Fuente, in a meeting with Mexicans in El Paso, Texas, reported on the progress made in strengthening the consular network. This work is organized in four main areas: legal defense strategies for Mexican nationals; simplification of paperwork procedures; building alliances with organizations and communities of Mexicans abroad; holding open meetings at consulate offices.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: it was reported that thus far this year, the daily average of intentional homicides has declined 6.9% compared to 2023 and 18.1% in relation to 2018; Claudia Sheinbaum said that during her meeting with her Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro, the two presidents addressed educational and cultural issues and the importance of the upcoming meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC); Sheinbaum recalled that when Donald Trump threatened to build a wall, then-President López Obrador showed him photographs of tunnels between the United States and Mexico. She added that a strategy is currently being implemented to prevent migrant caravans from reaching the country’s northern border; the President explained that the real estate cartel in the Benito Juarez borough of Mexico City was discovered as a result of an explosion in a building, where irregularities related to apartment ownership were detected, evidencing a corruption scheme linked to PAN leaders, such as the party’s current president Jorge Romero.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: Minister for Women Citlalli Hernández welcomed the approval of secondary legislation further defining constitutional reforms that strengthen substantive equality, eliminate the wage gap, and seek to eradicate gender violence. President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico now has a solid legal framework in favor of women; it was reported that 11,015 applicants have complied with the formal requirements to continue in the selection process to be candidates in the election of judges, justices, and magistrates; the President said that leaders such as Adán Augusto and Ricardo Monreal, the heads of Morena’s caucuses in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, respectively, remain committed to the unity of the movement. She called on Morena legislators to prioritize the well-being of the people and to, return to their communities and provide the population with information on the work of the legislature.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks reported that 35,000 vapes have been confiscated nationwide;
President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized the budget requested by the National Electoral Institute for 2025, calling it excessive. She asked for a detailed explanation of how budgetary resources are earmarked and justified the need for transparency in their use; Sheinbaum acknowledged the differences among parties and political figures representing different overall political projects, but stressed the importance of agreement on key issues, such as the defense of the trade treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA) and security. She mentioned the meeting between Minister of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez and legislators from different parties, where even members of the PAN displayed a willingness to collaborate with the federal government.
