Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: With six months to go before leaving office, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has an approval rating of 73%, according to a survey published by the daily newspaper Reforma; AMLO reiterated that he will not leave work projects unfinished before ending his term in office; on March 21 the President will meet with the governors of the 23 states that have federalized their health services to evaluate the progress made in providing free medical care; Minister of Security and Citizen Protection Rosa Icela Rodríguez reported that federal crimes have decreased 26% compared to the beginning of the current administration. Intentional homicides are down 25%, with respect to the historical record of July 2018, and remain low. Fuel theft has fallen 94.3%, in relation to 2018, which represents an estimated savings of more than US$18.79 billion.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO reiterated that his administration’s formula is "no corruption, no luxuries, and that everything saved will go to the people."; in Mexico there are 99,729 individuals whose names are contained in the National Registry of Disappeared and Missing Persons. The official figure in the registry, as of March 15, was 114,815 persons. However, search efforts have resulted in the 15,158 of them being located; the Acapulco Reconstruction Plan has invested almost US$909.68 million in the reconstruction of 301,076 homes and 30,196 businesses. 100% of the city’s schools have now resumed activities; 69% of the hotel stock is once again available for visitors, and mobile and fixed communications are operating normally

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: The President insisted that there is nothing personal in collecting back taxes from large companies, but rather compliance with the task of defending the interests of the majority of the people; from 2019 to 2023 collection levels reached a record high, increasing from US$170 billion to US$260 billion; the Mexican Government decreed that the area occupied by the Tangolunda golf course in Oaxaca is a Protected Natural Area. It has been under concession to business magnate Ricardo Salinas Pliego. To avoid future appropriations of the disputed land, which is property of the Nation, the zone was declared a Protected Natural Area; the President expressed his support for Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado’s dismissal of the state ministers of the Interior and Security, following the killing of a young teacher training college student and he reiterated his backing of her request that the state congress dismiss the prosecutor.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: President Andrés Manuel López Obrador charged that the ruling by the National Electoral Commission Complaints Commission ordering that the interview he gave to journalist Inna Afinogenova be removed from the social networks was an act of censorship; AMLO made it clear that his administration will not be supporting any U.S. presidential candidate; reports were presented detailing various major electric power projects underway in the state of Baja California; with the Program for the Regularization of Vehicles of Foreign Origin, over 2.13 million motor vehicles have been regularized in 17 states in the country. This has generated over US$320.21 million, which have been used to pave streets in the corresponding states.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: President López Obrador said he would not be passing on any unresolved problems to the incoming administration, as the foundations for the country’s transformation have been laid; at least 35 Facebook pages posing as media outlets, active since 2024, circulate content against the Mexican federal government. One of the bodies paying for these pages is the Chihuahua state government; it is not true that organized crime-related arrests have declined, as reported by The Wall Street Journal; It was revealed that the company Euthenicks, whose partner is Ximena Céspedes, president of the Communication Committee of the Mexican Employers Confederation, finances the dirty campaign against President López Obrador on Facebook.

Highlights of this morning’s presidential press conference include: AMLO warned that opposition groups are plotting to nullify the upcoming elections, with the help of the judicial branch; the President estimated that by the end of his administration, homicides will have decreased by 25%, given the continued downtrend in the corresponding crime stats. Homicides are down 23% in the current administration; AMLO reiterated that the IMSS Bienestar well-being program will be consolidated before the end of his presidency. It will provide free medical services and pharmaceuticals to those without social security; Minister of Foreign Relations Alicia Bárcena, on behalf of Mexico, is working with the international community to stabilize the situation in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

He also hailed the women who participated in the March 8 demonstrations; Mexico has one of the lowest gasoline prices in the world, at US$1.36 per liter; the President sent his condolences to the family of the young man who was murdered at a checkpoint in the state of Guerrero set up by state police. He explained that, according to initial reports, it was an abuse of authority, for which he declared that those responsible will be punished and there will be no impunity. The officers involved are already in custody.

The President reiterated that his administration is committed to finding the missing students; Based on the misconception that if the minimum wage is increased, inflation would also rise," during the neoliberal period the government refused to boost workers’ income. During the current administration the purchasing power of the minimum wage was increased 110% yet inflation continues to decline.

Highlights of this morning’s press conference include: AMLO blasted the exaggeration and manipulation of the issue of violence for electoral purposes and expressed confidence that it would not have an impact due to society being conscious and politicized; the President reported that in 20 days he will meet with the parents of the missing Ayotzinapa students to show them the evidence of how the investigation was manipulated to protect certain interests and prominent individuals; more than 90% of the messages sent with the hashtag "Narco Presidente" are generated by automated bots and according to a study published by the daily newspaper Milenio, 30% of the population is angered by the negative campaigns in social networks and 60% rejects them.
